Common Sense: the Science of the Art of Living.

The problem with main stream scince is that it ignores the hidden codes to the secrets of life that are there in our mythology, Holy Scriptures, traditions and common sense.

Scientific man is on the right path with cutting edge knowledge when it comes to the hard sciences like physics, math and chemistry, while when it comes to our self knowledge he is still too confused. Main stream science especially ignores the fact that the science of living is also the art of living and that the spiritual man is way ahead when it comes to common sense: the since of the art of living.

"The Lord, before whom I walk faithfully, will...make your journey a success." - Genesis 24:40

The problem with main stream since is that it ignores the hidden codes to the secrets of self/life/living that are there in our mythology, Holy Scriptures, traditions and common sense. Take any line from the Bible where it talks of success and it says again and again about being faithful which boils down to being pure, honest, truthful... The question is how do we make mankind pure en-mass? Should we stick to the way of the scientist or also accommodate the way of the artist? What if there is no clear cut pure science way of understanding and becoming our true self and there is a way through common sense which is the distilled essence of pure wisdom that is gained through millenniums of experiences.

In fact as the science of emotional intelligence currently stands the edge is with the knowledge of common sense more than with science. The knowledge of the spiritual master sages when decoded in the light of practical applications is more effective and more crystal clear than the science presented by the scientists. So should we reap the benefits of the insights of our wisdom sages or should we dismiss their proposals as out side the paradigm of science? Should we find pure happiness through the insights of the Buddha, Confucius, Jesus or should we dismiss their wisdom as mere beliefs. I think we should decode their insights under the microscope of science; And accept their advice as science if they can bring us pure happiness and if they teach us the science of the art of living.

We try to interpret the Bible's insights and instructions in the best possible means that we know; I will further interpret these insights in the light of my own advances in the science of the art of living.

Any knowledge that brings scientifically proven life benefits whether through science or art is a pure science!!! Such beneficial knowledge that comes through art is practically the science of the art of living.

One fact of human life that science agrees to is the proven observation that people become wise by old age. Over the years it is these wise people who have contributed to the insightful treasures of common sense by distilling their wise experiences through their own understanding of life and their own self. Our treasure trove of common sense has come to us mainly through our Holy Scriptures through many immortal sages who were able to understand the code of these scriptures. Many of these sages were scientists, philosophers while others were artists. Actually many of these were not scientists in the strictest terms but they were mind scientists to the full extent possible because they uncovered the science of the art of living/self/life.

To master life it is necessary to understand the science of life/living through learning the ropes of life to make a living. Equally important it is necessary to understand the art of life/living to not so much as just master life but also to become our true self.

Scientists should continue doing their job when it comes to expanding the frontiers of the science of life/living. They should also let the art of life/living/self be expanded by the artist sages. When it comes to emotional intelligence the art of living has the the same effects as the science of self/life/living; The art of living and the science of living are both the two sides of the same coin. They are both the same coin! They are both equally important and each is dependent on the other.

Science understands and acknowledges that the art of living has been understood by a few sages who are immortal through their art, especially poet philosophers. These sages have distilled their life and self experiences into their art and poetry. To me the greatest poet philosopher in the art of living is Tagore. And the greatest quote from a human being of all time comes from him when he wrote/sang the following:

"Death is not extinguishing the light; it is putting out the lamp because the dawn has come."

This single sentence gives us the best possible insight into understanding life by understanding death! Should we ignore this insight just because it has come to us from an artist of life and not from an established and accredited scientist of life. When it comes to the tons of benefits from this single sentence no other scientific thesis comes even close in providing real scientific insights to the science of living. Here this immortal sage is living proof that the art of life can trump the science of life; and that the art of life in terms of usefulness is as important as the science of life. In fact in terms of emotional intelligence they are both the same. The science of life is the art of life and the art of life is the science of life. The sooner main stream science wakes up to this fact, the sooner our art of life will become part of the science of life.

Lets put our art sages quote under the microscope of science...and see why this quotation is as much science as it is art...
